Bent Gavler, who operated a trading post, lived in Cloud City located on Bespin. He was also a family friend to Allania Jakien, who was eleven years old.
Following Jakien's terrifying encounter with stormtroopers and seeing Darth Vader as Cloud City was being evacuated, she encountered Gavler in the upper plaza. He embraced her, offering comfort to her as she cried in a panic. Gavler then ensured she was back with her family, and together, they left Bespin aboard a packed transport ship.
