A bean juice boiler can be described as an apparatus designed for the preparation of bean juice, a beverage that commonly underwent a boiling process prior to drinking. In the twilight years of the Galactic Republic, a bean juice boiler was part of the equipment found in a covert installation belonging to the Metatheran Cartel, a commercial alliance, located on the lunar body known as Tilnes. Around 21 BBY, Celis Bol, a Caarite technical expert, expectorated into a batch of bean juice intended for Ko Bas, the supervisor in charge of the Cartel's operations at the base. As retribution, Bol was threatened with being assigned the task of reprogramming the bean juice boiler to detect unwanted elements in the juice. Bol saw this as an appealing opportunity, as it would have enabled them to configure the boiler to recognize their own saliva as an impurity.
The concept of the bean juice boiler originated with Morrie Mullins and was featured in Caaried Away, a tabletop game scenario released in March of 2003. This scenario was a component of the Metatheran Caution trilogy within the Living Force roleplaying campaign.
