During the Galactic Civil War, a significant skirmish occurred at Fostar Haven. This confrontation ignited when the Galactic Empire discovered that Alderaanian survivors, those who lived through the destruction of their home planet Alderaan, had congregated at the space station.

Following the interrogation of Princess Leia Organa, Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin gave the order to execute the destruction of Alderaan, using it as a demonstration for the Death Star. Subsequently, Darth Vader instructed Commodore Rae Sloane to track down and eliminate all remaining Alderaanians scattered across the galaxy. To accomplish this, she assembled a fleet consisting of five Quasar Fire-class cruiser-carriers, nine Arquitens-class command cruisers, four Raider-class corvettes, four Imperial Gozanti-class cruisers, and the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, named the Vigilance. They received information indicating that some survivors intended to pass through the Fostar Haven spaceport. Rae Sloane then tasked Lindon Javes and his Helix Squadron with intercepting and annihilating these survivors. He arrived at the port with an initial force composed of five Quasar carriers, five Arquitens cruisers, and two Gozanti transports, along with numerous squadrons of TIE/ln space superiority starfighters and his personal TIE Advanced v1. Captain Canonhaus, in command of the Majestic, was reportedly assigned to a supporting role, with orders to secure the perimeter against fleeing refugees and perform additional support tasks like navigational interdiction and logistical assistance.

Upon their arrival in the system, the TIE fighters initiated scans of the BFF-1s present in the area, only managing to identify an illegal arms dealer. However, feeling humiliated by the Empire's actions, the dock master activated the station's defensive systems, which began targeting the TIE fighters. After neutralizing these defenses, twelve T-65B X-wing starfighters emerged from a concealed tunnel and engaged the TIE fighters in combat.

Following the defeat of the X-wings, Terisa Kerrill and her wing-mate located the Alderaanian refugees aboard three GR-75 medium transports and prepared to eliminate them. However, Javes intervened, realizing that the Empire's actions had crossed a line. He assisted the transports in escaping the tunnels and opened fire within the tunnel, triggering a cave-in that trapped the two TIE pilots. As the refugees attempted to escape, they were intercepted by the Vigilance and four additional Arquitens cruisers.

The transports managed to contact Admiral Gial Ackbar, who initially deployed the five X-wings of Echo Squadron. By the time they arrived, an additional Arquitens-class cruiser, a Raider-class corvette, and two Quasar-class carriers had reinforced the blockade on the opposite side of the tunnels. Echo Squadron rushed to assist the transports, but Echo Five was killed en route. The squadron then aided Lindon in defending the transports against the attacking TIE fighters. One of the Quasars approached rapidly and launched another wave of TIEs at the group, resulting in the death of Echo Two. However, a rebel CR90 corvette arrived accompanied by a UT-60D U-wing starfighter and destroyed the carrier. Lindon pleaded with Ackbar for additional support, asserting that the Imperials were merely preparing for a larger assault on the transports. In response, Ackbar dispatched two CR90 corvettes, an EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate, and the MC80 Liberty Type Heavy Star Cruiser Aurora to facilitate their escape. Echo Squadron subsequently engaged and destroyed a Raider-class corvette, enabling the transports to escape. Although the Empire managed to destroy their Nebulon-B frigate, the unit successfully disabled their tracking systems and fled the area, preventing the Empire from locating them or the refugees.
Lindon Javes defected to the Alliance to Restore the Republic, becoming a highly valued member and quickly advancing in rank. His two subordinates faced disgrace within the Empire and were reassigned to the Outer Rim Territories. Kerill was stationed in the Meram sector, eventually achieving the rank of captain and becoming Javes's bitter adversary. Captain Canonhaus was reportedly assigned to handle the subsequent legal proceedings, tasked with ensuring that the incident appeared to comply with Imperial law. Canonhaus would later claim that he deliberately misrepresented every aspect of his report, reclassifying Darth Vader as a transport ship and claiming that the incident revolved around the Emperor's gambling debts. Despite this, Canonhaus supposedly never received any feedback on his deliberate falsifications, suggesting that none of the official documents were actually reviewed. While their fellow Helix pilot, joins Kerill and come face to face with Javes in a Dog-fight that presumed Javes' death.
