Bas-Ton (imposter)

Bas-Ton was the alias adopted by an operative infiltrating the reestablished Sith Empire's espionage division on the world of Voss during the period known as the Galactic War.

Biography

The authentic Bas-Ton, a member of the Voss species, had been substituted by this Imperial Agent, whose appearance was modified to replicate Bas-Ton's circa 3645 BBY. To maintain the deception, he lived in a teahouse situated within the Judicial Quarter of the city Voss-Ka, alongside the genuine Bas-Ton's relatives: his brother Therod-Ton, son Phi-Ton, and daughter Yana-Ton.

Around 3640 BBY, following the incapacitation of Imperial Intelligence due to a scheme orchestrated by the enigmatic Star Cabal, the Imperial agent designated Cipher Nine journeyed to Voss to uncover insights pertaining to the "Shining Man," a Cabal operative who had achieved near-mythic status among the Voss. Bas-Ton served as Cipher's main point of contact, examining the evidence discovered by the Agent within the Shining Man's burial site and various other locations beneath Voss-Ka. This arrangement dissolved when a bounty hunter apprehended Bas-Ton, holding him for a ransom that necessitated a personal meeting beyond the reach of the Voss commandos. The bounty hunter had been employed by the exiled Hutt crime lord Voontara Fa'athra, whose operations on Nal Hutta Cipher Nine (disguised as the Red Blade) had disrupted to secure an Imperial pact with his rival, Suudaa Nem'ro. Fa'athra had become aware of the "Blade's" true identity through the Cabal's leading strategist, Hunter.

Cipher Nine tracked Bas-Ton and his captors to a derelict Voss commando outpost situated in Gormak territory, where he confronted Fa'athra and his hired guns. Bas-Ton suffered a fatal wound from the bounty hunter responsible for his capture, but before dying, he divulged the final clue concerning the Shining Man to Cipher Nine, directing the Agent to investigate the Dark Heart within the Nightmare Lands. He died soon after, expressing satisfaction that he was dying as an Imperial, not as a "blasted alien".
