The Galactic Empire commissioned the creation of B-2A, an experimental battle droid, at Imperial Research Station 61 on the planet of Wayland. This droid, along with its counterpart B-2B, drew inspiration from the B2 super battle droid, sharing a similar physical design but featuring yellow sensors and modified weaponry on their arms. Following the completion of these two droids, the station's commanding officer, Colonel Milosh Muhrlein, integrated them into his office walls as a security system against potential intruders. In 3 BBY, Colonel Muhrlein caught Jahan Cross, an agent from Imperial Intelligence, searching his office files for evidence related to black market activities. After failing to bribe Cross to keep quiet, Muhrlein instructed the droids to engage the agent. The droids attacked Cross, but IN-GA 44, Cross's Human replica droid, retaliated, destroying both B-2A and B-2B.
John Ostrander penned the first appearance of B-2A in Agent of the Empire – Iron Eclipse 1, a comic book released in 2011. This comic was part of the "Iron Eclipse" story arc within the Star Wars: Agent of the Empire series.
