Azanti Zhug was a Duros male bounty hunter originating from the planet Duro. He also held the position of leader within a bounty hunter collective known as the Zhug brothers. After being forced to leave Duro because of their acts of violence against a rival family, Azanti and his group took up residence on the moon Nar Shaddaa during the period surrounding the Dark Wars. When G0-T0, the local Exchange crime lord, offered a bounty for Jedi, the Zhug brothers were very interested in claiming the substantial reward.
In the year 3951 BBY, Meetra Surik, a Jedi Knight who had been exiled, arrived on the moon. G0-T0 instructed the bounty hunters to leave her alone. However, when Surik was captured by the Exchange, the bounty hunters saw this as the end of their agreement, and the Zhug brothers engaged Surik's companions. Azanti and his allies were killed during a short fight that took place on the landing pad of the starship called Ebon Hawk.
Originating from the planet Duro, Azanti Zhug was a Duros male who led the bounty hunting group known as the Zhug brothers. They considered themselves a "family" because they all wanted to reclaim Duro, their former homeworld, for themselves. Sometime around the Jedi Civil War, Azanti and the others in the Zhug brothers were exiled from Duro after committing violent acts against a rival family. They eventually made their home on Nar Shaddaa, which is a moon orbiting Nal Hutta, around the time when the Dark Wars were happening. While there, the local Exchange crime lord, G0-T0, put a bounty on Jedi, and they were quick to accept the job.

In the year 3951 BBY, Meetra Surik, previously a Jedi Knight and known as the Jedi Exile, arrived on Nar Shaddaa, prompting G0-T0 to organize a meeting of various bounty hunter groups on his yacht, the Visionary. G0-T0 instructed the hunters not to bother Surik while she was on the moon, and Azanti and Dezanti Zhug, the two leaders of the Zhug brothers who were there to represent their group, reacted strongly to this new rule. After calling G0-T0 crazy for stopping them from hunting when she was so close, the Zhug brothers started arguing with the other bounty hunters.
Surik left her companions—Bao-Dur, who was a Zabrak; Kreia, a former Jedi Master; Atton Rand, the pilot of the Ebon Hawk; and Brianna, an Echani handmaiden—to meet with Visquis, a Quarren who was G0-T0's head of operations on the moon. She ended up being imprisoned by Visquis and G0-T0. The bounty hunters took this as the end of their agreement, and Azanti and two other Zhug brothers confronted Surik's companions while they were discussing their plan on the landing pad where their light freighter, the Ebon Hawk, was docked. Instead of ambushing the crew, Azanti tried to scare them with threats, saying that Surik was "a criminal" and demanding that they hand her over. Surik's companions were not intimidated, and Azanti Zhug and the two Zhug brothers with him were killed in the brief exchange of fire that followed.
Soon after Azanti Zhug died, eight Zhug brothers failed in their attempt to attack Surik on the Visionary, where she was being held prisoner. Eventually, Dezanti Zhug led their final attempt to collect the bounty on the Jedi on the surface of Dxun, but they failed again.
Azanti Zhug believed that his group was made up of very dangerous, important, and well-known bounty hunters. He was very eager to get the bounty on the Jedi, and he didn't treat his fellow bounty hunters or his targets with much respect. This was clear from his actions on the Visionary, where he and the other Zhug leader insulted the other bounty hunters and openly called G0-T0 crazy. Zhug also chose to threaten Meetra Surik's companions instead of killing them when he had the chance, and this decision ultimately led to his death.
Azanti Zhug was one of the Zhug brothers, a minor group of villainous bounty hunters that appeared in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, a video game that Obsidian Entertainment released at the end of 2004. In the game, the player, who controls the Jedi Exile, can visit several planets after leaving Telos IV. This article assumes that the Jedi Exile goes to Nar Shaddaa first, as shown in Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords: Prima Official Game Guide.
