Within the Sprizen sector of the New Territories, which itself is part of the Outer Rim Territories, there existed a terrestrial astronomical body known as Asher III. It was situated in the Asher system. During the era of the Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance operated a cell on this planet. Delt Nerris, a pilot sympathetic to the Alliance's cause, commandeered the Corellian Security Force starship named Nova Whisper. Subsequently, this vessel was handed over to the Rebels. The Alliance cell stationed on Asher III then utilized Nova Whisper as a medical transport.
Not long before the Battle of Hoth occurred in 3 ABY, Lernik De'Yago, a Rodian involved in the arms dealer trade, attempted to sell a weapons shipment to the Alliance while on Asher III. However, before De'Yago could be compensated, the Galactic Empire located the Asher III cell and initiated a plan to destroy the Rebel presence there. The Empire confiscated De'Yago's shipment and eliminated the majority of the Rebel forces on Asher III. Consequently, De'Yago stole the Nova Whisper and used it to make his escape from the world.
The planet Asher III received a mention in Stock Ships, a sourcebook from West End Games published in 1997 for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The Essential Atlas, a reference book from 2009, designated the Asher system, and therefore Asher III, as being located in grid square N-5.
