Abregado-rae, also known as simply Abregado, and at times written as Abregado-Rae, was a trading world located within the Core Worlds region of the galaxy. It was strategically positioned at the start of the Rimma Trade Route. Abregado-rae was known as a relatively lawless planet, and its primary spaceport was considered the closest thing to a secure haven for smugglers within the Core.
During the time of the High Republic Era, a countess residing on Abregado-rae commissioned a saberfish from Tibrin for her personal aquarium, which was transported to the Core region aboard the starship Legacy Run. After the saberfish fell ill due to the countess's people lacking the knowledge to properly care for it, she funded the Run's return trip to transport the fish back to Tibrin.
During the rule of the Galactic Empire, the Pyke Syndicate exerted control over the Abregado-Rae Spaceport. Around 5 BBY, the bounty hunter Caviness Thorn and his crew accepted a bounty to capture Han Solo on the planet, planning to ambush him at the spaceport. The bounty hunter Beilert Valance soon became involved, initially agreeing to assist Thorn until he discovered that Solo, a former fellow Imperial cadet with Valance, was the target. The operation deteriorated into a conflict between Valance and Thorn's crew, ultimately resulting in Solo and his Wookiee companion Chewbacca successfully escaping.
