Zalor Minister, which can also be called Zalorian Minister, denoted a position held by governmental officials on the planet of Zaloriis. Zaloriis was located within the Zaloriis system found in the Expansion Region. This title existed while the Galactic Empire was in rule. During this time, several ministers simultaneously occupied this role and were tasked with handling tribute payments to the Empire. Notably, they were kept in the dark regarding secret weapons tests, such as those involving the All Terrain Armored Transport, that were conducted on their planet.
A Human Zalorian named Transe Decar served as a Zalor Minister not long before the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY, which occurred during the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance. It was during this period that Decar, along with the population of Zaloriis, defected to the Rebellion. This action caught the attention of Sith Lord Darth Vader when Zaloriis failed to deliver its monthly tribute. Vader confronted Decar on Zaloriis, where the minister openly declared the defection and attempted to ambush Vader using a group of Zalor Militiamen. However, Vader slew Decar and thoroughly crushed the Rebel uprising.
The title of Zalorian Minister initially appeared in Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Prima's Official Strategy Guide by Steven L. Kent, which was made available on November 7, 2001. It later appeared as Zalor Minister in the LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, which was released on November 11, 2001. Within the game, the title is generally shortened to "Minister," but the complete title is present in the reconnaissance report for the level "An Empire's Fury." It also appears in the game's credits and captions, where Transe Decar is credited as Zalor Minister.
