Zak, a Human male who identified as a Mantellian Separatist, fought against the Galactic Republic during both the Cold War and the Separatist War, a conflict in which the Republic supported the Mantellian Government. Living in Oradam village alongside his spouse, Jaller, Zak was exposed to radiation poisoning resulting from a bomb – the very same weapon the Separatists had taken from the Republic. Seeking aid, he and Jaller journeyed to Fort Garnik, but Republic soldiers there denied them any assistance, dismissing the intelligence Zak was willing to provide. Ultimately, a Republic sergeant discovered the injured pair and agreed to trade medical provisions for the information Zak possessed.
