The stingers harvested from queens of the Yalbec species were highly prized as a culinary treat across numerous planets. In the era of the Clone Wars, which pitted the Galactic Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, clone trooper Wrecker famously severed the stinger of a Yalbec queen on Yalbec Prime. This occurred while he was stationed there as a member of the Republic's specialized squad, Clone Force 99, during their mission to quell an insurrection. Subsequently, Tech, another member of Clone Force 99, shared the knowledge of the stingers' delicacy status with his squad and other clones.
The first reference to these stingers appeared in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode entitled "The Bad Batch." This episode was originally conceived as part of the show's sixth season. However, due to the cancellation of The Clone Wars, it was never fully produced and aired. Instead, unfinished versions of the story were presented at Celebration Anaheim in 2015, and later made available on StarWars.com as part of the The Clone Wars Legacy project.
