Yalaran

The Yalarans were a sentient species, though their technological advancement was limited. They were indigenous to the Wild Space planet of Yalara. Due to their lack of preparedness for galactic society, Jedi Master Broden Kel Verdox concealed their homeworld with a specially designed cloaking device.

Society and culture

Residing on the planet Yalara within Wild Space, the Yalarans were a species whose technological development remained at a primitive level, despite their sentient nature.

History

Several Noghri guard the Yalara cloaking device.

The Yalarans, a peaceful species with only primitive technology, came to the attention of Broden Kel Verdox, a Jedi Master belonging to the Jedi Order. Verdox then constructed a cloaking device to protect their planet from being discovered. Sometime later, a group of Noghri arrived on the planet and assumed the responsibility of guarding the cloaking device.

In 14 ABY, Tionne Solusar, a Jedi scholar within the New Jedi Order, uncovered information about the planet through a holocron. After the Jedi Order learned that the planet's existence had been revealed to another group, Luke Skywalker, a Jedi Master, dispatched Jedi Knight Jaden Korr on an investigation. Korr's investigation led him to discover members of the Disciples of Ragnos, a Sith cult in opposition to the New Jedi Order, engaged in combat with the Noghri who were safeguarding the cloaking device. Korr was able to defeat both groups. Subsequently, acting on Skywalker's warning that the cloaking device was too dangerous to fall into enemy hands, Korr used explosives to destroy it. Skywalker later pondered whether Darth Vader, a Dark Lord of the Sith, had commanded the Noghri to exterminate the Yalarans.

Behind the scenes

The Yalarans were conceived to provide a backstory for the planet Yalara in the 2003 video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, which was developed by Raven Software.
