The Y-85 Titan dropship, a sizable and boxy dropship, was utilized by the Galactic Empire for the purpose of deploying assault walkers onto battlefields. This craft, produced by the Incom Corporation, featured substantial repulsor units, two pairs of forward-mounted twin laser cannons, and the ability to simultaneously transport four All Terrain Armored Transports along with four All Terrain Scout Transports. Only the most massive Imperial warships possessed hangars large enough to house the Y-85 Titan dropships.
The Incom Corporation designed the Y-85 Titan dropship, which was subsequently employed by the Galactic Empire's military. Its primary function was the deployment of walkers—legged armored cavalry vehicles—onto the surfaces of planets. The Titan's form resembled an irregular hexahedron, incorporating a cockpit module situated atop its front half, and a floor hatch designed for the unloading of the onboard walkers.
The Titan's capacity extended to accommodating four All Terrain Armored Transports (AT-ATs), stored in a battle-ready state with troops and equipment pre-positioned, in addition to four All Terrain Scout Transports (AT-STs) held within rotating racks. It was equipped with significant repulsor units and two forward-projecting twin laser cannons, positioned on either side of the dropship's forward section. Reflecting the Empire's penchant for subdued tones, the Titan's hull was uniformly gray.

Titan dropships saw action during the Galactic Civil War, a conflict that opposed the Galactic Empire against the Alliance to Restore the Republic. However, only the largest Imperial warships—such as the Executor-class Star Dreadnoughts—had hangars sufficiently large to house these dropships. Notably, the Executor, the flagship of the Dark Lord Darth Vader, carried a number of Titans. Smaller vessels, such as the Imperial-class Star Destroyers, utilized single-walker barges for deployment.
At the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY, Imperial General Maximilian Veers made the decision not to employ Titans for the deployment of his walker contingent onto the Moorsh Moraine, located outside the Alliance base's deflector shield perimeter. Concerned that enemy starfighters would overwhelm the dropships before they could reach their designated landing area, Veers instead chose to use several Gozanti-class Assault Carriers, which, despite having a capacity of only two AT-ATs each, offered greater agility.
The Y-85 Titan dropship was first introduced into the new Star Wars canon through the 2016 reference publication Star Wars: Complete Locations, which served as an updated rendition of a 2005 Star Wars Legends book sharing the same title. The Titan's origins can be traced back to the 2004 Legends book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy, authored by James Luceno.
While Inside the Worlds suggested the use of Titans during the Battle of Hoth, the canon version of Complete Locations attributed this role to Gozanti-class cruisers, aligning with the depiction found in Alexander Freed's 2015 novel, Battlefront: Twilight Company.
