XX-10 turbolaser tower

The XX-10 turbolaser tower from Taim & Bak, a version of the XX-9 heavy turbolaser modified for planetary surfaces, was intended for use against terrestrial vehicles. To operate, it needed a significant power source, which was provided by typical base power generators. Due to its notably low firing rate, it was easily overrun. Its vulnerability stemmed from its primary focus on terrestrial targets, leaving it susceptible to destruction by infantry units. Furthermore, its targeting systems were ineffective against small, agile targets like foot soldiers.

History

These turbolaser towers served the purpose of defending ground-based installations from large airborne attackers. When faced with aerial threats, the main cannons could be adjusted to fire directly upwards, achieving a 90-degree firing range. Both the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance employed this weapon.
