Wynnet Ree was a female human child, the offspring of Paron and Verine Ree, who were members of the First Wavers. She was born on the planet of Jelucan in 19 BBY, but tragically died just a few hours following her birth. Her twin sister, Ciena Ree, always wore a leather bracelet to symbolize their enduring connection. Under no circumstances would Ciena ever remove the bracelet. During significant or beautiful experiences, Ciena would say "Look through my eyes" to share those moments with Wynnet, thus remembering her sister and reaffirming that she was living life for both of them.
Upon joining the Galactic Empire, Ciena was obligated to remove her bracelet. To maintain her connection with Wynnet, she placed the bracelet inside a cloth pouch and carried it in her pocket throughout her time in service. Not long after the destruction of the Death Star in 0 BBY, Ciena recognized that she had neglected to invite Wynnet to look through her eyes for quite some time, and she made a promise to do so more frequently. After the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Ciena suffered severe injuries. When she regained consciousness after surgery, she discovered that the bracelet had been destroyed because it was considered against regulations. Ciena was heartbroken, feeling as though she had lost her sister's means of experiencing her life.
The character of Wynnet Ree was initially introduced in Lost Stars, a young adult novel authored by Claudia Gray. It was released in 2015 as a component of the Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens publishing initiative.
