Winged xendrite

The winged xendrite, an insect-eating species, originated from Xend and is considered native there. These creatures, being insectivores, were transported to numerous planets across the galaxy as a means of managing insect populations.

Biology and appearance

Winged xendrites possessed a prehensile tail, which they employed to anchor themselves to branches or buildings, along with diminutive legs. Their method of capturing insects involved extending a sticky tongue.

Behavior

The initial assumption was that xendrites employed a random, net-like method of hunting, indiscriminately projecting their tongues to ensnare any passing insects. However, subsequent observations revealed that they targeted their prey with a remarkable 98% precision.

History

Xendrites frequently served as a biological pest control agent on various planets, a practice that often resulted in overpopulation issues. On Sirdar, for instance, the introduction of these creatures to eradicate insects led to significant ecological harm due to their waste products. Furthermore, they proliferated into massive swarms that obscured sunlight. To address this problem, the Governor of Sirdar enlisted Yosev Seville and her team to eliminate the xendrites from the planet, offering a payment of 25 million credits.
