Constructed over Rako's Rift, Wildwater City's founding occurred within a century of the outbreak of the Galactic Civil War. Consistent with both its descriptive name and its comparatively young inhabitants, it was known to be a more rough-and-tumble community compared to the majority of Mon Calamari habitations. It became a magnet for numerous artists, unusual characters, and individuals from other planets.
One of the city's draws for visitors was Fathoms, a complex of multiple floors that featured a sophisticated dining establishment, a cantina, an upscale lodging, and a souvenir emporium.
