Welrin Maduk was a Duros male. In the final years of the Galactic Republic, he worked within the Cularin system. Maduk piloted the starship called the Fool's Paradise, using it to transport various cargoes across the Cularin system. On occasion, he also did charter work for the Jedi Order. Around 31 BBY, Maduk brought the Fool's Paradise down in the city of Hedrett, located on the planet Cularin. He was loading the ship with technical equipment to be delivered to a research station on the planet Almas. While in his ship's landing bay, Maduk was ambushed by a band of Believers, headed by the Dark Jedi pair Kosa-Yin Hadu and Gar Granga. They were trying to take the Fool's Paradise by force. However, the Heroes of Cularin, a team of independent agents active in the Cularin system, intervened, saving Maduk by defeating the Believers. Following this, the agents accompanied Maduk and the Fool's Paradise on their journey to Almas.
