Watch-beasts originated in the woodlands of Gamorr, the native planet of the stocky Gamorreans, and were tamed for use as sentries. Gamorreans would seize Watch-beast cubs from their mothers to establish a bond, ensuring their obedience to a single master. These creatures exhibited intense territoriality, aggressively targeting any individual or object not associated with their bonded master, and steadfastly remaining within their designated guard area. During an assault, Watch-beasts emitted a distinctive croaking bark, which served as a deterrent and could be detected across vast distances of several kilometers. Possessing exceptional visual acuity and a refined sense of smell, Watch-beasts maintained constant vigilance; however, their limited intelligence restricted their training to basic guarding duties, precluding the acquisition of more complex commands.
Physically, Watch-beasts were characterized by their gray pelts, robust, compact builds, and disproportionately large heads featuring elongated, pig-like faces and snouts. They bore short horns atop their heads, complemented by prominent tusks. Their sturdy, fur-covered legs terminated in four formidable paws equipped with blunted claws.
The Imperial Army transported several Watch-beasts to Sirpar, an Imperial training world, for the purpose of securing military outposts.
