Vinzen Neela 5

Vinzen Neela 5 was a celestial body situated in the Parmic sector of the Outer Rim Territories' Vinzen Neela system. The Sela cargo ferry group had orders to meet the Ton-Falk-class escort carrier Hininbirg near Vinzen Neela 5 to offload the Galactic Empire's TIE/D Defender prototypes it was transporting; this occurred in 3 ABY, following the Battle of Hoth. Before the Imperial starships arrived, forces from the Rebel Alliance showed up, attempting to ambush them and stop the transfer. To safeguard the operation, Imperial starfighters were deployed.

During the subsequent engagement, both Sela and the Hininbirg arrived, and the prototypes were successfully transferred to the latter. Imperial starfighters destroyed all Rebel vessels and mines. The Hininbirg then jumped to hyperspace with the prototypes, headed for the planet Coruscant, while all other Imperial ships also departed the area.

Behind the scenes

Vinzen Neela 5 made its debut in Totally Games' video game Star Wars: TIE Fighter from 1994. This astronomical object was visible on a map within the briefing for the sixth Tour of Duty's second mission, which was entitled "Prevent Rebel Ambush." The 2009 reference work, The Essential Atlas, pinpointed the location of the Vinzen Neela system, and therefore Vinzen Neela 5, in grid square P-18.
