Ventran system

The Ventran system, a star system found in the Mid Rim region, resided along the Gevarno Loop hyperlane network. During the era of the Clone Wars, this system demonstrated its allegiance to the Galactic Republic. In 21.51 BBY, the Republic medium cruiser known as the Halleck was stationed within the system until Jedi Master Mace Windu requested its presence on the planet of Haruun Kal for an extraction mission.

Description

Located in the Mid Rim's Var Hagen sector, the Ventran system was a star system. The Gevarno Loop, a collection of hyperlanes, provided connectivity between the Ventran system and the Killisu, Jutrand, Loposi, Opari, and Ch'manss systems, in addition to the Gevarno Cluster. Due to the positioning of a local star, a starship could shorten its travel time by multiple days between any two systems on the Gevarno Loop by travelling through the Al'Har system located within the Dustig sector.

History

The Ventran system was part of the Var Hagen sector (depicted on map) and remained loyal to the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars.

During the Clone Wars, a period of conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Ventran system maintained its allegiance to the Republic. Despite the Republic not considering the Ventran system of particular strategic significance, the Republic was steadfast in its commitment to defend the system from any military actions initiated by the Confederacy, especially considering the numerous former Republic member systems that had already seceded during the war.

In the year 21.51 BBY, Jedi Master Mace Windu traveled to the war-stricken planet of Haruun Kal in the Al'Har system, a conflict zone, to extract the missing Jedi Depa Billaba; Windu journeyed aboard the Republic medium cruiser Halleck. Subsequently, the cruiser, carrying a regiment of clone troopers, was assigned to the Ventran system.

The Halleck was initially scheduled to patrol its station in the Ventran system for approximately one to two weeks before being reassigned, unless Master Windu encountered complications during his mission. Ultimately, Windu requested extraction from the Halleck, prompting the medium cruiser to travel to the Al'Har system, where it engaged in a battle against Confederate forces. Later, clone trooper Seven-Four documented the Halleck's time in the Ventran system within a personal account of the Al'Har system engagement. The Ventran system also appeared in an entry—purportedly written by Windu—from The Private Journals of Mace Windu, which was published not long after the Republic's razing of the Jedi Temple in 19 BBY. This entry was later incorporated into Jedi historian Tionne Solusar's 40 ABY compilation, Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force.

Behind the scenes

The Ventran system was initially referenced in the 2003 novel titled Shatterpoint, penned by Matthew Stover. The reference book, The Essential Atlas (2009), located the system within grid square M-16.
