Before becoming a guard for the Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure, Velken Tezeri, a male human, made a living as a arms dealer. He chose to secure his position by working at Jabba's palace located on the desert planet of Tatooine. In 4 ABY, he was selected as one of the five guards to accompany Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca aboard a Bantha-II cargo skiff. These prisoners were being transported to the Great Pit of Carkoon, where Jabba intended to execute them by offering them as food to a sarlacc.
However, during the attempted execution, Skywalker, with assistance from R2-D2, managed to escape and launched an assault on the guards aboard the skiff. In an attempt to aid his fellow guards in subduing Skywalker, Tezeri drew his weapon. Unfortunately for him, Skywalker swung his lightsaber in close proximity, causing Tezeri to lose his footing and stumble over the skiff's railing. As a result of this misfortune, Tezeri plummeted into the sand below and tumbled directly into the Sarlacc's mouth, where he would face a slow digestion process lasting thousands of years.
Larry Holt, a stuntman, portrayed Velken Tezeri in the 1983 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. The character's official identification within the current Star Wars canon occurred in the 2015 reference book, Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know. An edition of De Agostini's Star Wars Encyclopedia series titled The Battle of Hoth and the Second Death Star, released on December 11, 2020, incorrectly places Tezeri on the second skiff, rather than the one carrying the prisoners.
