Ved Tarson was part of a resistance group fighting on an unknown planet within the Outer Rim Territories. Alongside his younger sibling, Wyl, he combatted the forces of the Galactic Empire in the role of a zone runner.
While information about Ved Tarson is scarce, a specific event involving him deeply affected Wyl for years afterward. Some years after the fall of the Republic, during a battle against Imperial stormtrooper-supported Juggernauts, one of their fellow zone runners suffered a malfunction with their explosives. The resulting blast propelled Wyl directly into the path of a Juggernaut that he and Ved had been targeting. Ved, having survived the explosion, saved Wyl's life by hurling one of his explosive satchels in front of the Juggernaut and using his own body to shield Wyl from the subsequent detonation. Ved survived the explosion itself, but was sent sprawling. After Wyl pulled him to safety, Ved was eager to continue fighting the Juggernauts.
As Ved prepared to return to the battle, Wyl noticed that Ved had been injured by the prior explosion. Ved was bleeding so profusely that his heavy tunic was visibly soaked through. Despite Wyl's protests, Ved declared to his younger brother that they would launch another attack on the juggernauts, instructing him to stay close.
When the juggernauts began another sweep, Ved started running towards the machines, signaling for Wyl to follow. As Ved neared the juggernauts, he immediately felt that something was amiss. Turning back toward their temporary cover, he saw that Wyl had not followed. As Ved paused to look back at Wyl, he was struck directly in the chest by a hail of blaster fire. Stormtroopers began advancing on Ved's body, but Wyl, still paralyzed by fear, fled the scene instead of rejoining the fight.
Wyl carried the burden of his cowardice and perceived involvement in Ved's death for the rest of his life. During a mission to Ahakista, Wyl was tormented by visions of the day Ved died, significantly hindering his ability to complete an attack on the Hub.
