Unagin

A minor trade planet, Unagin existed within the Unagin system. This system was located in the Al'Nasrl sector, which itself was part of the Slice region of the Outer Rim Territories. The Hollastin Run, a hyperlane, passed through Unagin, linking it with the worlds of Tsyk and Syvris. Furthermore, Unagin was connected to the planet Riileb by a smaller hyperspace route. Its location near Hutt Space caused many starships preparing to enter or exit that region to make stops there.

Behind the scenes

The Essential Atlas, a reference book from 2009 that Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry co-authored, first mentioned Unagin, placing it in grid square T-13. The planet was planned to be featured in Adventures in Hyperspace: The Big Switch, a young-readers book authored by Ryder Windham; however, the book's release was delayed and ultimately canceled.

Adventures in Hyperspace: The Big Switch

Han Solo and Chewbacca would have visited Unagin in the canceled book Adventures in Hyperspace: The Big Switch.

Itto Bipsmik, an Aleena art dealer, resided with her two children in a small spaceport settlement close to a wooded area in Unagin's southern hemisphere, sometime between 2 BBY and 0 BBY. During this time, she sold Jabba Desilijic Tiure, the Hutt crime lord, a portrait bust of his ancestor Bogga. This bust was stored in a shelter near the compound's landing site. Jabba then employed Han Solo, the Human smuggler, and Chewbacca, his Wookiee co-pilot, to retrieve the sculpture from Unagin, where Bipsmik was located, and transport it to the planet Tatooine.

The smugglers arrived on Unagin aboard their freighter, the Millennium Falcon, and met Bipsmik at the edge of the settlement, in a large compound of buildings surrounded by a duracrete wall. However, their meeting was cut short by the arrival of Captain [Rench]((/article/rench), an officer of Imperial Customs. The Imperial captain instructed the stormtroopers with him to destroy the bust, and then he departed from Unagin.

Fortunately for Solo, Bipsmik had created a perfect duplicate of the sculpture, which she kept in her garage. Solo planned to give this replica to Jabba, hoping he would not notice the substitution. After discovering a transmitter planted by Rench on the Millennium Falcon and escaping the captain's light corvette in Unagin's orbit, the smuggling duo left the planet, heading for Tatooine.
