The War Droids found on Tython represent an ancient variant of battle droid that was constructed by the initial members of the Jedi Order. These droids, positioned at the decaying fortress city of Kaleth, presented a puzzling situation for the Jedi, as they engaged in combat with anyone who dared to enter the area.
During the early period of the Jedi Order, the ancient Jedi recognized in history as the Weapon Master on Tython created these war droids. They now haunt the remains of the old fortress city of Kaleth, acting as an obstacle for anyone seeking the First Blade. These droids were designed to evaluate the worthiness of Jedi who believed they were qualified to use the weapon, and they would indiscriminately attack anyone who came near, even fellow Jedi.
When the Jedi Order made its way back to Tython during the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, numerous Jedi archaeologist were perplexed by the droids' seemingly random and aggressive behavior. Jedi Master Till'in took charge of a group that went to the camp with the intent of discovering the reason behind their existence and gaining insights into the ancient technology that had allowed them to remain operational for thousands of years.
