Two-headed tortuce

Two-headed tortoises constituted a varied species that inhabited numerous regions across the world of Canastra IV.

Biology and appearance

Similar to Troigs, they represented one of the rare life forms present in the Core Worlds possessing dual brains. A variety of species thrived, having adjusted to a multitude of habitats, encompassing both arid terrains and the ocean floor. Mirroring numerous reptiles, their lives could extend beyond one hundred years. Each head contained a brain, connected to a central nexus located beneath the creature's carapace. It was theorized that this nexus served as a biological processing unit, managing signals originating from two separate cerebral centers.

Behavior

These beings moved at a leisurely pace and congregated in sizable groups. Their limited capacity for aggression rendered them susceptible to predation.

History

Despite the absence of natural predators, they were a preferred dietary source for the sentient inhabitants of the planet and were easily hunted. Efforts by the governing bodies to prohibit their killing proved unsuccessful.
