The TL-1800 transport, which is also referenced as the TL-1800 freighter or the TL-1800 light freighter, represented a light freighter that was produced by Suwantek Systems as a component of their TL-series product line.
This wide-bodied vessel, measuring 30 meters in length, possessed the capability to transport 110 tons of cargo within its internal bay. Furthermore, it could accommodate four external cargo pods attached to its hull. This configuration afforded the TL-1800 an exceptional cargo capacity relative to its size, even surpassing larger vessels such as the Etti Lighter and the YZ-775 medium transport. However, the addition of these pods diminished the already limited speed and maneuverability of the freighter, and only a single pod was permissible during atmospheric flight.
The TL-1800 also gained recognition for its highly efficient Y-v-6 model sublight engines and StarBurn 4 hyperdrive, which demonstrated the ability to function for a year or longer without necessitating significant maintenance.
Typically, Suwantek Systems would enlist Fabritech or Industrial Automaton to develop systems like the nav computer. However, with the TL-1800 Transport, Suwantek Systems opted to engineer their own nav computer system, known as the Portal Delta, with the aim of reducing expenses. The Portal Delta proved to be highly susceptible to glitches and demanded continuous upkeep. Subsequent models of this vessel incorporated the more dependable Fabritech units, although earlier models equipped with the problematic Portal Delta nav computer system could still be encountered.
The Imperial Security Bureau occasionally utilized TL-1800 freighters. One such vessel, named the Melnor Spear, was employed by Daric LaRone during his escape from the Imperial Star Destroyer Reprisal.
