TIE Advanced prototype

The TIE Advanced prototype represented an early iteration of the TIE Advanced x1, classified as an advanced prototype starfighter. Sienar Fleet Systems produced a small quantity of these craft in the period leading up to the Battle of Yavin. These limited production ships were then awarded to members of the Inquisitorius and other esteemed Dark Side Adepts serving the Galactic Empire. A more condensed wing panel arrangement allowed the prototype to possess a more streamlined form factor, resulting in a smaller profile compared to the later model.

Behind the scenes

Continuity

Despite the separation of canon and Legends timelines in April 2014, becker&mayer!, the publisher, has verified that the Imperial Handbook is labeled as Star Wars Legends, even though Star Wars: Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide was created after this split. It's worth noting that the description provided for the TIE Advanced prototype aligns with that of the TIE Advanced v1, despite the latter being classified as Canon.
