Thilis-Brin was a female Ishi Tib who fought for the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War against the forces of the Galactic Empire. A skilled technician, she was assigned to work as a troubleshooter at the Mon Calamari Shipyards after the completion of her recruit training. After a period of two years of service, Thilis-Brin sought a more dynamic role within the Alliance and accepted an invitation to join Shroud Team—an exclusively alien group of Foster Agents whose purpose was to recover stranded operatives and return them to the Alliance. This team was under the leadership of Lieutenant Dutra Zeneta, of the Jin species. Stationed in Corint City on the planet Pirik, she functioned as both the team's technician and the secondary Foster Agent, following the Rodian named Dheendo. Thilis-Brin, an adrenaline junkie, greatly enjoyed using her personal Sunwolf speeder bike to aid in the extraction of operatives while simultaneously outmaneuvering Imperial pursuers. One notable example was the time she played a vital role in the successful return of a high-ranking officer to the Alliance after a thrilling speeder bike chase through the Talamp Industrial Sector.
Born sometime between 36 BBY and 32 BBY, Thilis-Brin was a female Ishi Tib who enlisted with the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. She excelled during her recruit training, graduating at the top of her class. Her performance in the desert training seminar, where she finished fourth, was particularly remarkable considering the aquatic nature of the Ishi Tib's physiology. Upon graduating, Thilis-Brin was considered a prime candidate for SpecForce assignments. However, she was instead assigned to the Mon Calamari Orbital Shipyards, where she served as a technical troubleshooter. Despite her proficiency in this role, she yearned for a more proactive involvement in the Alliance's efforts. After two years of service, her desire was fulfilled when Lieutenant Dutra Zeneta of the Jin chose her to join Shroud Team, a specialized all-alien unit of Foster Agents. Serving as a Foster Agent was one of the Alliance's most perilous assignments, as they functioned as the primary point of contact for operatives who were stranded and attempting to rejoin the Alliance. These operatives were provided with the Foster Agents' names and locations, which put the agents at risk of compromise if the operatives were captured and interrogated. Shroud Team was deployed to Corint City on the planet Pirik, situated within the Divis Arm. In addition to Thilis-Brin and Zeneta, the team included the Rodian named Dheendo, the Carosite Tamo Lan, and the Aqualish Gondara. The team's diverse composition was well-suited to Corint City, where non-Humans comprised 95% of the population. Thilis-Brin's responsibilities included serving as the team's primary technician and procurement specialist, responsible for acquiring necessary supplies such as vehicles and rations. She also served as Shroud Team's secondary Foster Agent, with Dheendo taking on the primary role. However, due to her Ishi Tib physiology, Thilis-Brin required daily immersion in a brine solution. The [Uloitir Sea](/article/uloitir_sea], the closest available source, was located fourteen kilometers from Corint City, requiring Thilis-Brin to carefully manage her time to meet her physiological needs while fulfilling her duties with Shroud Team. During her time on Pirik, Thilis-Brin participated in a high-speed speeder bike chase through the Talamp Industrial Sector. Riding her modified Ikas-Adno Sunwolf speeder bike, she successfully evaded a squad of Imperial scout troopers while escorting a high-ranking Alliance officer. She successfully delivered her charge to their destination while avoiding capture and maintaining anonymity.
Thilis-Brin was a highly motivated individual, driven by a desire for personal success and a commitment to the destruction of the Empire. Her performance during Alliance training indicated a promising career, which she began to realize through her work with Shroud Team. While she enjoyed her role within the unit, Thilis-Brin remained uncertain about her long-term career path within the Alliance and the specific capacity in which she wished to serve. In contrast to the generally mild-mannered nature of Ishi Tib individuals, Thilis-Brin was known for her flamboyant personality and thrill-seeking behavior. She had a tendency to show off and was known for rescuing Alliance operatives in a conspicuous manner.
Thilis-Brin possessed the qualifications to pilot both capital ships and space transports. She was also certified to operate the weapon and shielding systems on capital ships. Furthermore, she was proficient in navigating vessels through hyperspace and utilizing communications and security equipment. As a skilled technician, Thilis-Brin was trained to repair capital ships, with particular expertise in EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigates and MC80 Star Cruisers, as well as space transports and their weapon systems. She also had the ability to program and repair both droids and computers.
Her assignment at the Calamari shipyards provided her with valuable insights into the bureaucracy required to maintain the installation's efficiency, as well as knowledge of Mon Calamari's law enforcement procedures. She also possessed a strong understanding of business protocols, item valuation, and Corint City itself. She was adept at operating vehicles equipped with repulsorlift technology and could perform repairs when necessary. Thilis-Brin's training in survival techniques was evident in her fourth-place finish in desert survival during her training. As a member of the aquatic Ishi Tib species, she was a skilled and natural swimmer, although her need for daily immersion in salt water occasionally presented challenges, requiring her to find time for this while also fulfilling her Alliance duties. In addition to her species' natural traits, Thilis-Brin possessed a hardened beak capable of inflicting damage during unarmed combat, and she shared her race's natural aptitude for planning. She received training in the use of blasters and could operate vehicle-mounted blasters as well.
Thilis-Brin typically carried a blaster pistol, a comlink, and a tool kit. She also owned a Sunwolf speeder bike, which was the military version of the Ikas-Adno's civilian-model Starhawk.
Thilis-Brin was first introduced in an installment of the "Cracken's Rebel Operatives" article series, featured in Star Wars Adventure Journal 10, published by West End Games in 1996. The article, written by C. Robert Carey and illustrated by Kathy Burdette, provided details about the members of Shroud Team. Thilis-Brin's name was later mentioned as a sample name for Ishi Tib characters in both the Ultimate Alien Anthology, published in 2003, and The Unknown Regions, released in 2010, both published by Wizards of the Coast.
