The Star Wars Storybook

The Star Wars Storybook is a retelling of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, released by Scholastic Book Services, which is a part of Scholastic. Geraldine Richelson adapted the storybook from the George Lucas movie. It has sixty pages filled with color photographs taken directly from the original movie, including scenes cut from the final film that are shown through production stills.

The paperback version of this book was included in a boxed set called Star Wars Treasury in 1983, along with The Empire Strikes Back Storybook and Return of the Jedi: The Storybook Based on the Movie.

Continuity

Similar to earlier versions of the movie's adaptation, the book has the deleted scenes that show Luke Skywalker witnessing the space battle above Tatooine and his first encounter with Biggs Darklighter, complete with corresponding pictures.

One of the complete photographs taken from the film, specifically the one depicting the Rebel starfighters drawing closer to the Death Star, is flipped compared to how it appears in the pre-1997 versions of the film. The storybook also inverts the callsigns of Gold and Red Squadrons, resulting in Luke Skywalker flying as Gold Five.
