"The Sith in the Shadow" initially surfaced within the pages of Star Wars Tales 13 and subsequently found its way into the compilation known as Star Wars Tales Volume 4.
A journey to a planet inhabited by beings who venerated the Sith was undertaken by Mace Windu accompanied by a Padawan. The Padawan, mirroring the fear of the locals, nearly engaged Windu in combat, but Windu successfully calmed the escalating tension. Shortly thereafter, Windu instructed the Padawan to locate a Sith Temple situated close by. He was told he had to overcome an enemy within. The young Padawan, acting on these instructions, activated his lightsaber and ventured into the temple's depths. Inside, the apprentice encountered a figure concealed by a cloak and launched an attack. It turned out that the adversary was none other than Windu himself, who parried the student's strike and declared that the Padawan's training had been unsuccessful. The grounds for this failure stemmed from the Padawan's presumption that the Sith Temple's nature inherently implied that all within its walls were inherently malevolent.
