Taroon was a Rutanian male, and he was the offspring of King Frane who ruled Rutan.
To prevent conflict, the rulers of Rutan and Senali were required by their respective laws to exchange their oldest children at the age of seven. Taroon desired the throne, but his father considered him less capable than his brother. When Leed suggested a desire to remain on Senali, Taroon devised a scheme. He anticipated a disagreement between Frane and Leed. He employed fellow Rutanians, either trusted companions or those who stood to gain from his ascension, to abduct his brother. These individuals were to pose as a minor clan on the moon, creating the impression that Leed was their leader. Following this, he plotted an assault, using tracker droids, on Frane's neks, intending to place blame on Leed. This was intended to highlight the potential for war, though he did not anticipate actual warfare. The resulting conflict would force Leed to remain on Senali, leaving Taroon as the sole heir to Rutan.
However, his father summoned Jedi assistance to secure Leed's return. After some difficulties, Qui-Gon Jinn successfully determined that Taroon was responsible for the unusual occurrences and confronted him at his educational institution. When Taroon revealed he had deployed the tracker droids to attack, he discovered that Drenna had chosen to remain on Rutan and was caring for the nek kennels. After preventing the attack, Taroon admitted his plot to his father and expressed remorse to Drenna for endangering her, as he thought the kennels were empty. Ultimately, King Frane honored Leed's wish to live on Senali and consented to Taroon being named as the future King of Rutan, noting that his scheming reminded him of his mother. He later developed romantic feelings for Drenna.
