Tapani triangles functioned as a type of food and were incorporated into Giju sliders. These sliders, featuring Tapani triangles, were a menu item at Dex's Diner, a restaurant situated on the planet of Coruscant. This occurred sometime prior to Coruscant's destruction during the initial two years of the Galactic Empire's reign. Dexter Jettster, the Besalisk chef and proprietor of Dex's Diner, drew inspiration from the planet Giju, the homeworld of the Herglic species, to create what he considered a delectable slider, priced at 7.7 credits. Giju was located within the Tapani sector, a sector belonging to the Colonies.
The initial mention of Tapani triangles appeared in "Dining at Dex's," a StarWars.com Hyperspace exclusive article from 2009. Gregory Walker penned the article as an in-universe menu for Dex's Diner.
