Tantajoc V

title: Tantajoc V

Located in the Halori sector of the Mid Rim, within the Tantajo system, was the planet Tantajoc V, a world entirely covered by jungle. This planet orbited a binary star. In 3 ABY, it was known to be completely devoid of sentients, although its humid and perilous forests were abundant with dangerous predators. Denid, the Velmorian crown prince, along with his retainer Jedidiah, found themselves crash-landing on Tantajoc V in 17 BBY after escaping a coup on the neighboring planet of Velmor. They managed to survive in this hostile environment for the subsequent two decades. Eventually, in 3 ABY, Rebel leaders Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker located Denid on Tantajoc V by tracing his distress signal. They rescued him from his exile and facilitated his return to Velmor, where he could take his rightful place on the throne.

Behind the scenes

The initial depiction of Tantajoc V occurred in Star Wars (1977) 49, a comic written by Mike W. Barr and illustrated by Walter Simonson. This comic was released in 1981. While the planet remained unnamed in its original appearance in the comic, the name "Tantajoc V" was later established in 2003 within the Wizards of the Coast article titled Velmor: Royalty and Rebellion.
