Biography

Childhood

Growing up on Cirrus, Talesan Fry demonstrated remarkable talent from a young age. As a child, he was known as Taly. He quickly lost interest in school and developed a strong passion for constructing things. By the age of eight, Taly had created a voice-activated security system for his family's residence. A year later, he managed to find a way to bypass it. His technological skill was a defining trait, but it ultimately put him and his family in serious danger.

At the age of ten, Taly built a listening device. During a test, he accidentally intercepted a transmission between a group of bounty hunters planning a mass assassination within days. Alarmed, Taly informed his parents, Nelia and Grove, who subsequently alerted the Cirrus law enforcement. The bounty hunters, led by Magus and Gorm the Dissolver, decided to seek revenge on the young boy and his family.

Taly and his family were forced to flee from the hunters. The Jedi Council dispatched Qui-Gon Jinn, Adi Gallia, and their Padawans, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Siri Tachi, to protect them. Upon encountering the Jedi, the bounty hunters launched another attack. Nelia and Grove made the decision to leave their son with the Jedi, hoping to draw the attackers away from him.

Taly and the Jedi managed to escape Cirrus and staged a fake crash landing on Quadrant Seven to deceive the bounty hunters into believing they had perished. Qui-Gon and Adi went to investigate nearby settlements, while Obi-Wan and Siri were tasked with protecting Taly in the nearby caves. After receiving a garbled message from Qui-Gon urging them to leave the planet, the Padawans debated where to take the boy. Taly suggested his uncle's home on Qexis, but this only led to further debate between the two infatuated teenagers. Ultimately, they decided to steal a transport to Coruscant. Taly's advanced technological abilities allowed them to bypass the ship's security systems.

However, Taly overlooked one critical system. The ship's anti-theft mechanism was activated, set to detonate the ship upon exiting hyperspace. Knowing how to circumvent the self-destruct, Taly sent out a distress signal, hoping to attract Magus's pirate group. The plan succeeded, and the hunter's ship used its interdiction field to pull the trio out of hyperspace, preventing the destruction.

As Magus and the bounty hunters boarded the ship, Taly willingly surrendered himself to protect Obi-Wan and Siri. The hunters took him to Rondai-2, where their assassinations were still scheduled to occur.

After the Jedi reunited with their masters and learned of Taly's location, they discovered that the bounty hunters had been hired by Passel Argente of the Corporate Alliance, and that all of his political adversaries were the targets of the assassinations. Eventually, they confronted Magus and the bounty hunters, successfully rescuing Taly. All of the pirates were either killed or captured, except for Magus, who managed to escape at the cost of some of his partners' lives.

Taly was brought to the Senate to testify. He intentionally omitted Argente's involvement, hoping to protect his parents, who were still in hiding. However, Magus killed Nelia and Grove Fry regardless. Orphaned on Coruscant, Talesan was indirectly placed under the protection of the Jedi.

The Clone Wars

Over the next seventeen years, Talesan managed to blackmail Passel Argente and establish a highly successful technology company on Genian. His staff included vice president Helina Dow, security chief Dellard Tranc, and executive Moro Y'Arano. However, his success made him a threat to competing companies, and rumors began to circulate that a spy was among his employees. During the Clone Wars, Genian maintained its neutrality. About a year into the galactic conflict, Talesan's company created a code-breaking device that he intended to sell to the highest bidder, whether it be the Republic or the Separatist faction. However, out of gratitude for the protection he received as a child, Talesan offered it to the Republic first.

The Republic sent four representatives: Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker, Siri Tachi, and Senator Padmé Amidala, to meet with Fry on Genian. Despite the high price, the Republic agreed to a deal, contingent on the Jedi completing one favor for Talesan: identifying the spy among his employees.

Through extensive investigation, the Jedi and Senator Amidala narrowed the suspects down to three: Helina Dow, Dellard Tranc, and Moro Y'Arano. To definitively identify the saboteur, Talesan and the Jedi devised a trap involving a decoy code breaker. When it appeared that the Republic had successfully purchased the code breaker, Helina Dow was revealed as the spy. Believing she had the real device, Dow was also revealed to be working for the bounty hunter Magus, the same individual who had murdered Talesan's parents decades earlier. Magus was once again working for Passel Argente and the Corporate Alliance. Magus escaped with the decoy code breaker, while the Jedi captured Dow.

Talesan, the Jedi, and Senator Amidala proceeded to Azure Spaceport to ensure the safe transfer of the real code breaker to Republic General Solomahal. Unbeknownst to them, after realizing that the code breaker she had obtained was a decoy, Helina Dow managed to locate the real device and attach a homing beacon to it, which attracted a Separatist attack force to Azure.

During the attack on Azure, a Coruscant-bound transport carrying Talesan and Padmé was shot down, though both survived in an escape pod. After reuniting with Siri and Obi-Wan, Talesan joined Obi-Wan in a starfighter to help repel the attacking Separatist forces. After Magus's ship was shot down, Talesan found him and held him at gunpoint, threatening to kill him in revenge for his parents' murders. However, Magus was taken into custody unharmed.

Following the attack on Azure, General Solomahal was forced to destroy the code breaker when it became clear that it would fall into Separatist hands. As for Talesan's company, the Separatists destroyed its headquarters on Genian.
