Stranger War

The definitive showdown known as the Stranger War marked the end of hostilities between the Ewok inhabitants of Bright Tree Village and the malevolent Wizards of the Night Spirit.

The Beginning

Long ago, before the Battle of Endor took place, the Wizards of the Night Spirit found themselves in conflict with the Ewoks. The Ewoks, wielding the power of the Sunstar, banished the Wizards from their world, forcing them into a spatial tear. On this otherworld, the Wizards meticulously plotted their vengeance, patiently awaiting the moment they could break free from their prison and return to the Forest Moon of Endor.

Years passed until their opportunity arose. In 3 ABY, a rare alignment of Endor's two moons above the forest moon created an extraordinary phenomenon. This alignment caused the spatial rift to briefly open, allowing one of the Wizards, known as the Stranger, to slip through in a swift vessel. The scheme for revenge was at last set into motion.

The Events of the Stranger War

The Rising Tension

The Stranger threatens the Dulok tribe.

Upon his arrival on the forest moon, the Stranger abandoned his spacecraft and journeyed towards the Dulok swamp. As the Stranger made his way into the swamp, the Dulok King, named Gorneesh, confronted the Wizard. The Stranger, employing his powers to intimidate the Dulok leader, coerced the Dulok tribe into following him to Bright Tree Village. The Duloks, now armed, rallied behind the Stranger, departing from the swamp.

The Actual Battle

As the Stranger and his Dulok warriors stormed into the Ewok settlement, the Wizard signaled the attack. Swinging on vines, the Duloks commenced their assault on the Ewoks' homes, invading huts to pilfer food and attack the inhabitants. The chaos quickly reached the ears of the Ewoks' Chief, Chirpa, who issued a resounding battle cry, summoning the Ewok warriors.

The Duloks and Ewoks engaged in fierce combat on the village's central bridge, exchanging blows. Amidst the turmoil, the Stranger exploited the distraction to infiltrate Logray's hut, intending to steal the Sunstar, which had been left unguarded during the conflict. With the Sunstar in his possession, the minion of the Night Spirit prepared to escape. However, the Ewok children, Wicket Wystri Warrick, Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka, Teebo, and Latara, noticed him and attempted to alert the others.

However, the Stranger utilized the powerful artifact to ignite a fire on the bridge where the children stood, trapping them between two raging infernos. The Stranger then abandoned the scene, leaving behind his Dulok allies. Seeing the Stranger's departure, Gorneesh recognized the battle as lost and ordered the Duloks to retreat back to their swamp. With the primary threat eliminated, the Ewok warriors swiftly extinguished the flames with a firehose, rescuing the Ewok children just in time.

The Chase

As the intensity of the battle subsided, the Ewok warrior, Weechee Warrick, noticed the absence of the Sunstar and informed Chirpa. Assuming the Duloks were responsible for the theft, the Chief gathered his warriors and set off for the swamps. Meanwhile, the Ewok children, who had unsuccessfully tried to inform Chirpa of the true culprit, left the village to track the Stranger's movements.

Using Teebo's ability to communicate with the wildlife of Endor, the group deduced that the Stranger was heading towards the [Thorn Forest], and they quickly set out. Upon reaching the forest, they discovered the Stranger performing a dark ritual within the Stone Circle, with the Ewok Shaman Logray as his captive. Observing the ritual, the Ewoks witnessed the Stranger using the Sunstar to open a portal to the otherworld, allowing the rest of his kind to emerge.

The Final Onslaught

Wicket understood the Stranger's intentions and, along with Kneesaa, charged into the Stone Circle, ready to confront the Stranger. However, their attack only managed to tear off the Stranger's cloak, revealing his terrifying appearance. As the Wizards flooded onto the forest moon, they overwhelmed the Ewok children with their sheer numbers.

Fortunately for the Ewoks, Chirpa realized that the Duloks did not possess the Sunstar, and his force left the swamps to enter the Thorn Forest. Seeing the Ewok children in danger, the Ewoks charged into the Stone Circle, engaging the Wizards in battle. While the Ewoks fought the Wizards with staffs and potions, Wicket and Kneesaa became locked in a fierce struggle with the Stranger, who continued to manipulate the Sunstar. Wicket managed to grab onto the Stranger's wings, holding him firmly while Kneesaa freed herself and raced towards the Sunstar. Using her grappling hook, Kneesaa reversed the ritual that was summoning the Wizards onto the forest moon. Reversing the spell had the opposite effect, threatening to close the doorway in space and creating a powerful wind that began to push the Wizards back through the portal.

Two wizards.

As the flying Wizards were caught by the powerful wind, Chirpa ordered his forces to stand down and hold onto anything they could find. Meanwhile, the Stranger made a final attempt to harm the Ewoks, trying to carry Wicket away with him. However, Kneesaa intervened once again, rescuing Wicket from the Stranger by tying his hands with Wicket's belt of honor. With a final, frustrated cry, the Stranger was flung far into space and through the portal just as it closed with a blinding flash.

What Followed

With victory secured, the Ewoks returned to their village in triumph. Chief Chirpa honored the Ewok children with Beads of Bravery for their courageous actions during the battle. Additionally, Wicket's Belt of Honor was lost during the conflict, requiring him to begin crafting a new belt to complete his journey to becoming a fully fledged warrior.
