The Solstice Globe functioned as one of the three sacred orbs that provided energy to a device responsible for maintaining the habitability of the planet Livno III. Specifically, the Solstice Globe provided light to the planet, which in turn fostered the development of crops. During the war that occurred on Livno III, all three orbs were taken; although two were recovered, the Solstice Globe was not. Eventually, Lynna Zel Gris and Princess Rinetta Gan located it within the treasury of the royal palace located on Hynestia. Subsequently, with assistance from the gambler and smuggler Lando Calrissian, along with his droid companion L3-37, the globe was successfully returned to Livno III.
