The Sluis system, also referred to as the Sluis Van system (with a pronunciation of /'slu.i/), functioned as the key star system situated within the Sluis sector of the Outer Rim Territories. Its main planet was known as Sluis Van.
Prior to the onset of the Clone Wars, the system seceded from the Republic and aligned itself with the CIS. Corlissi Ludar held the position of its senator during this period.
The system served as the location for a battle in 9 ABY, involving Grand Admiral Thrawn as part of his campaign directed against the New Republic.
A mistake in the PC game Star Wars: Rebellion incorrectly positions the Sluis sector, and therefore the Sluis system, within the Galactic Core.
