Skrats were creatures resembling rodents, and a common theory suggested they were utilized in the creation of Turbo Dogs. During 9 BBY, two stormtroopers were in the middle of a conversation about food choices after their patrol shift on the planet Coruscant. One trooper proposed Turbo Dogs as an option. The other trooper mentioned the persistent rumor, which the first trooper dismissed, leading them to explore alternative food choices. There was speculation that the low-quality products of Undercity Meats primarily used skrats as a base ingredient.
Within current Star Wars canon, skrats received a mention in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a video game released in 2023 by Respawn Entertainment. These creatures initially appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity, specifically within the 2006 novel Legacy of the Force: Tempest, authored by Troy Denning.
