Twenty years had passed since the unsuccessful Sith rebellion when a brief conflict erupted on Genbara, a planet situated in the Outer Rim Territories. This clash occurred at a village. Soon after "The Ronin," a wandering individual, made his way to the village teahouse, a bandit group launched an assault, forcibly gathering the villagers under the guise of collecting "tax." However, the village chief, a child, had employed the services of bounty hunters to safeguard the village from these bandits. Prompted by the chief's signal, the bounty hunter guards initiated a counterattack against the bandits.
As the village guards began to gain an advantage over the bandits, their leader, a female Sith known as Kouru, emerged from the Troop Transport Tank in which the bandits had arrived. Kouru, proclaiming herself to be a Dark Lord of the Sith, eliminated the officer in charge of the guard, a Trandoshan male individual, before engaging the other bounty hunters defending the village. Simultaneously, the bandits unleashed weapon fire upon the village, resulting in shrapnel damage to B5-56, the Ronin's astromech droid companion.
Still inside the teahouse, the Ronin requested the Sullustan shopkeep, a former mechanic, to repair his droid before a pot of tea finished boiling. The Sullustan agreed, and the Ronin exited the teahouse to challenge Kouru to a lightsaber duel.
Kouru bisected the Jedi statue inside the temple.
The Ronin and Kouru engaged in combat within the town square, subsequently moving their battle to a river and then down a waterfall. Due to his advanced age, the Ronin fell from the waterfall, but Kouru correctly surmised that he had survived. He sought refuge in a concealed abandoned temple of the Jedi located beneath the waterfall, where he prepared an ambush for Kouru's arrival. The Ronin, possessing two lightsabers, activated one and placed it in the grip of an ancient Jedi statue. The bandit leader stormed into the temple, striking with her lightsaber parasol and destroying the statue, believing she had defeated the Ronin. However, the elderly man materialized behind Kouru and ended her life with his second lightsaber before reciting a prayer over her remains.
Subsequently, Kouru was resurrected as a Sith demon by a disembodied voice, who was secretly the Ronin's daughter and the Sith witch with whom he had previously spearheaded the Sith rebellion.
The brief conflict was initially depicted in "The Duel," a short film and episode within Star Wars: Visions, produced by Kamikaze Douga and made available for streaming on Disney+ on September 22, 2021. This conflict, particularly the duel between the Ronin and Kouru, constituted the central narrative of "The Duel."
