The Shadow Runner, a starship, served as the vessel of the married pilot duo, Hok and Timar Daragon. The Koros system's Unification Wars commenced in 5000 BBY, leading to the encirclement and siege of Empress Teta's forces on Kirrek by insurgent factions. Recognizing a chance for financial gain by delivering provisions to the Tetan soldiers stationed on Kirrek, Hok and Timar Daragon sought the services of Aarrba, a Hutt located on Koros Major, to repair the Shadow Runner before embarking on their journey to Kirrek. However, the situation at Kirrek had drastically shifted by the time the Daragons arrived; the rebels, fueled by desperation and the exotic Force power of battle meditation wielded by Jedi Memit Nadill and Odan-Urr, unleashed a barrage of attacks targeting the most vulnerable aerial targets. The Shadow Runner, burdened by its heavy cargo, lacked the agility to effectively evade the incoming fire, resulting in its destruction in a crossfire and the deaths of the Daragons.
The Shadow Runner exhibited a purple hue and featured several tendril-like structures extending from one end of the ship. The hull's upper surface was adorned with multiple wings. A ramp located in the midsection of the Shadow Runner facilitated the loading of goods and supplies into the ship's cargo hold. However, excessive weight in the cargo hold compromised the ship's speed and maneuverability. The Shadow Runner was equipped with battle-ready deflector shields, although sustained fire from turrets could quickly overwhelm them. Situated near the vessel's midsection, the cockpit featured a viewport that protruded from the main body. The cockpit housed the piloting controls and a command-coded comm system.

Hok and Timar Daragon, a married couple who operated as ship pilots, owned the Shadow Runner as their personal starship. They hailed from the Koros system situated within the Deep Core. The system of Koros became a war zone when Empress Teta, the political leader, initiated a campaign aimed at unifying the seven worlds within the system. While her forces managed to unite the first six worlds, their campaign encountered a stalemate at Kirrek, where an army composed of rebels and pirates had encircled and besieged a contingent of Teta's soldiers. During this time, the besieged soldiers experienced a significant reduction in their available supplies. Recognizing a potential profit-making opportunity, Hok and Timar Daragon traveled to Aarrba's Repair Dock, a repair facility located on Koros Major and owned by Aarrba, a Hutt, to restore the Shadow Runner to a spaceworthy condition, enabling them to transport supplies to the Tetan soldiers. Aarrba agreed to repair the Shadow Runner in exchange for a portion of the Daragons' profits and retained their backup ship, the Starbreaker 12, as collateral until their return.
Subsequently, the Shadow Runner's cargo hold was promptly filled to capacity with supplies by droids at Aarrba's Repair Dock. Hok and Timar Daragon bid farewell to their children, Gav and Jori Daragon, and embarked on their journey aboard the Shadow Runner. However, upon the Shadow Runner's arrival at Kirrek, the battle's dynamics had undergone a significant transformation. Teta had enlisted the assistance of two Jedi, Memit Nadill and Odan-Urr, to lead her forces. These Jedi employed the exceptional Force power known as battle meditation to diminish the rebels' morale, thereby unleashing their final reserves of desperation. Seeking to inflict maximum damage before their inevitable defeat, the rebels initiated attacks on the most vulnerable targets in the sky. As the Shadow Runner entered Kirrek's atmosphere, it came under fire from rebel weaponry, forcing the Daragons to execute emergency evasive maneuvers. Regrettably for the Daragons, the ship's heavy cargo impaired its maneuverability. Caught in a crossfire, the Shadow Runner was obliterated, resulting in the deaths of Hok and Timar Daragon.
The Shadow Runner makes its singular appearance in Star Wars canon within Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi – The Golden Age of the Sith, a story arc belonging to the Tales of the Jedi comic book series, authored by Kevin J. Anderson and released in 1996. This appearance occurs in the prologue issue, Conquest and Unification, where the ship meets its demise. In this issue, Dario Carrasco, Jr. provided the ship's illustrations.
