A Scrap Guardian. The Scrap Guardian represented a junk golem brought into existence by the Jedi Master known as Kazdan Paratus.
These Scrap Guardians were encountered on the junkyard planet of Raxus Prime. This occurred during Kazdan Paratus' period of exile following the Clone Wars, a world he maintained through his connection to the Force. The Scrap Guardians were a vital element of Master Paratus's droid based army located on that world. Constructed from discarded materials and spare parts, they gained animation through Paratus's Force-based powers. Their function was as sentinels, created to protect Kazdan from the many scavenging threats that existed.
Serving as the eyes and ears for Kazdan, they provided early warnings of approaching enemies. When an intruder neared, these Guardians would rapidly assemble, rising from the piles of scrap much like zombies emerging from burial. They were well-equipped to engage a [Sith](/article/sith-legends] in combat, possessing blasters for ranged attacks, in addition to bladed appendages for close-quarters fighting. It also seemed they could disassemble themselves, move their essence to a different location, and then reconstruct a new body from available scrap. This ability proved particularly useful when Starkiller arrived on Raxus Prime, allowing them to attack him from a distance before reassembling nearby for melee combat.
After their creation, they proved to be an effective defense against the scavengers led by Drexl Roosh.
In the year 3 BBY, Darth Vader sent his Secret Apprentice to Raxus Prime with orders to eliminate Kazdan Paratus. The Apprentice faced numerous Scrap Guardians who attempted to defend their master. However, upon Paratus's death, the guardians simply fell apart into their constituent junk pieces. Without these guardians, the Galactic Empire was able to quickly take control of the planet.
