Rotar Lopani was a thief linked to the Bando Gora crime syndicate, operating during the Galactic Republic's era. In the year 22 BBY, officials from the Circarpous sector offered a reward of 8,000 credits for his capture. That same year, the Xexto bounty hunter named Tosinqas located Lopani on the planet of Brentaal IV and proceeded to eliminate him.

During the time of the Galactic Republic, a thief known as Rotar Lopani was active, during the reign. He maintained connections with the Bando Gora criminal organization during this time. In the year 22 BBY, Lopani escaped from Coruscant, the Republic's capital planet. Believing he had absconded with sensitive diplomatic datapads, representatives from the Circarpous sector issued a bounty of 8,000 credits through the Bounty Hunters' Guild for his capture. Concurrently, these representatives also sought assistance from the Jedi Order to apprehend Lopani. The Order responded by sending Jedi Knight Reeft, who discovered Lopani, disguised, within a bustling marketplace on Brentaal IV.
The Jedi shadowed Lopani closely; however, the Xexto bounty hunter named Tosinqas—who had also accepted the bounty for the criminal—arrived at the scene. He descended upon Lopani from a significant height, resulting in his death. Tosinqas then attacked Reeft, but the Jedi bisected him with his lightsaber. Reeft subsequently transported the bodies of both Lopani and Tosinqas back to Coruscant. Following this event, Guildmaster Cradossk of the Bounty Hunters' Guild voiced his dissatisfaction with the situation in remarks published in an edition of HoloNet News CoCo District Edition.
Lopani's illicit activities led representatives from the Circarpous sector to not only offer a bounty of 8,000 credits for his capture but also to request the Jedi Order's help in apprehending him. While being hunted, Lopani attempted to conceal his identity through disguise, although this tactic ultimately failed to prevent Tosinqas from finding him.
The first mention of Rotar Lopani occurred in "Three-Way Hunt Ends with Two Dead," an article penned by Pablo Hidalgo and Paul Ens. It was featured in HoloNet News Vol. 531 #53 on the HoloNet News website on April 25, 2002.
