A Near-Human space explorer, Reidi Artom (a female) is known for her discovery and naming of the Reidi Artom I, Reidi Artom II, Reidi Artom III, Reidi Artom IV, and Reidi Artom V systems. Furthermore, in 232 BBY, she also rediscovered the Cularin system (originally designated as Reidi Artom VI).
Artom was a member of a long-lived humanoid species. Most of her kind remained on their own planet, a concept that young Artom struggled to accept. Eager for excitement, adventure, and the thrill of exploration, she left her homeworld during her youth. For many years, she traveled without a clear destination, taking on various jobs to finance her travels.
Artom came to possess her exploration vessel, the Trailblazer, in an unusual fashion. She had secretly boarded the scout vessel, when the ship was attacked. The pilot died almost immediately, leaving the ship adrift in space. After making repairs and using the hyperdrive to reach a starport, she registered the ship under her own name. Seeking to explore uncharted space and new systems while earning a living, Reidi became a scout for the Galactic Republic. While many scouts ventured into the Unknown Regions or the Outer Rim, Reidi focused on surveying the [Exploration Region], seeking out overlooked planets. Her explorations sparked a renewed interest in at least eight systems.
During her initial scouting mission to the Cularin system in 232 BBY, Artom explored the system from its outermost to its innermost planets. This led to her discovery of the Almas Sith fortress on Almas, the Crystal Snare within the Cularin asteroid belt, and the enigmatic lava-like creature of Rennokk during her second visit to the moon. She also developed a friendship with the native Tarasin species of Cularin, earning her the rare honor of being taken to the Sacred Ch'hala Tree Grove — a privilege rarely extended to outsiders.
Artom dedicated nearly a quarter of a century to mapping the Cularin system. She and her crew were credited with establishing the settlement of Gadrin on Cularin. Her last known whereabouts were in the Unknown Regions in 207 BBY. Given the extended lifespans of her people, it was speculated as of 31 BBY that she could still be alive and continuing her explorations.
Reidi Artom's influence was evident within the Cularin system, where time on both Cularin and Almas was measured using the A.A. ("After Artom") time system. This system marked the system's discovery as its starting point.
A 60-meter statue of Artom was erected in front of a museum dedicated to her in Gadrin. This statue, visible from House Hirskaala, served as the backdrop for a medal ceremony organized by Governor Barnab Chistor of Gadrin in 31 BBY.
Rumor had it that Lavina Wren, the Republic Senator representing Cularin, was a distant descendant of Artom.
