The Rebel Troop Cart, alternatively named the Rebel Troop Carrier or flight crew shuttle, functioned as a repulsorlift transport for the Alliance to Restore the Republic, enabling them to move troops onto the battlefield. A single one of these carriers had the capacity to transport a maximum of six individuals of human size. Furthermore, these vehicles saw use within Rebel installations for the purpose of transporting personnel.
In the course of the Echo Base evacuation, which occurred in 3 ABY, these troop carriers were utilized to load Rebel transport vessels. Prior to the Battle of Endor, a personnel carrier of this design conveyed the Rebel strike team to the seized Lambda-class T-4a shuttle Tydirium situated within the primary hangar of Home One.
This particular vehicle made brief appearances on screen, primarily in the background, at Echo Base within The Empire Strikes Back, and aboard Home One in Return of the Jedi. However, its most noticeable depiction originates from a promotional photograph taken for the former film, showcasing the main Rebel characters both inside and around the vehicle.
