Reaper Squadron

Reaper Squadron, a celebrated squadron of starfighters, served the Galactic Republic's Republic Starfighter Corps during the time of the Clone Wars. Renowned for their mastery of the Clone Z-95 Headhunter, they once participated in the skirmish that occurred over the planet Castilon. A fighter belonging to them was discovered within Castilon's Karavian Trench by the pirate known as Synara San in the year 34 ABY.

Description

Reaper Squadron was a starfighter squadron within the Galactic Republic's Republic Starfighter Corps, seeing action by 19 BBY during the Clone Wars between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The squadron's composition included a minimum of three Clone Z-95 Headhunters along with at least three clone trooper pilots, one of whom served as a scout.

History

Synara San, Neeku Vozo, and Kazuda Xiono come across the destroyed remains of a Reaper Squadron starfighter.

Reaper Squadron was involved in distant battles, including the skirmish above the planet of Castilon. Despite the Clone Z-95 Headhunter not being highly regarded, Reaper Squadron's pilots became famous for their skill in piloting the starfighter. The squadron received a mention in Official History of the Rebel Movements, Volume One, a project by Lieutenant Voren Na'al and Major Arhul Hextrophon of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, within a section detailing the design origins of the T-65B X-wing starfighter.

In the year 34 ABY, decades following the war's conclusion, the shattered remains of one of the squadron's fighters were found in Castilon's Karavian Trench by Synara San, a pirate operating undercover. Her intention was to provide it to Team Fireball for the purpose of repairing their racing starfighter, which shared the same name. Initially, Neeku Vozo, a mechanic, mistakenly identified the fighter as a Z-96, but Kazuda Xiono, a spy for the Resistance who knew about the squadron's past, quickly corrected him. Soon after, Bibo, an infant rokkna, emerged from the starfighter, startling the group. San later used the pretense of discovering more of Reaper Squadron's fighters as a tactic to spend additional time with Xiono, hoping to uncover details about his involvement with the Resistance.

Behind the scenes

The first mention of Reaper Squadron occurred in "Bibo," which is episode twelve of the first season of Star Wars Resistance, an animated television program. The episode was initially broadcast on January 13, 2019. Atomic Mass Games created an image of the squadron for Star Wars: X-Wing Second Edition's Clone Z-95 Headhunter Expansion Pack. This image was first shown in a tweet promoting the game, posted on May 19, 2022.
