The Praetor II-class ship designated a specific class of sizable starship utilized by the Galactic Empire's Imperial Navy. These Praetor II-class vessels, along with Executor-class Star Dreadnoughts, could be maintained at the Empire's expansive Mk IX Orbital Maintenance Depots due to their considerable size. This starship also had a name that was similar to the Praetor-class Star Battlecruiser.
The Praetor II-class ship made its initial appearance within the new Star Wars canon inside the 2018 Star Wars Roleplaying sourcebook Fully Operational, published by Fantasy Flight Games. Before that, it existed in Star Wars Legends, first showing up in the 1982 comic book Star Wars (1977) 60 created by David Michelinie and Walter Simonson. It was subsequently recognized as the Praetor Mark II-class battlecruiser within the 2012 reference work, The Essential Guide to Warfare, authored by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart.
