During the era of the Great Galactic War, and continuing into the subsequent Cold War around 3653 BBY, there existed a type of bounty hunter known as a powertech. Serving the newly risen Sith Empire, these individuals were distinguished by their use of powered armor, employing both wrist-mounted flamethrowers and personal energy shields. Furthermore, they were renowned for their capacity to withstand substantial amounts of damage during combat.
Within the Star Wars: The Old Republic massively multiplayer online game, the powertech serves as an advanced specialization for the bounty hunter character class. This particular specialization focuses on defensive capabilities, taking advantage of their uniquely designed armor to soak up damage during combat. The Republic equivalent to this combat role is the vanguard specialization for the Trooper class.
