Gungans, the sentient species native to the planet of Naboo, created Paonga Fresca, a beverage distinguished by its green hue. This drink was prepared using seeds harvested from the surface of Lake Paonga, the very same lake that served as the location for their underwater city, Otoh Gunga.
Strono Tuggs, an Artiodac chef, once found himself captured by the Gungans and brought to Otoh Gunga after he attempted to fish for yobshrimp without first obtaining the Boss's consent. Once they determined that the chef did not pose a threat, they extended an offer of Paonga Fresca as a gesture of hospitality. Despite Tuggs' initial reservations about the drink's swamp-like appearance, he consumed it to avoid causing offense. He was then pleasantly surprised by its unique and satisfying flavor and texture.
In the year 34 ABY, Tuggs documented and shared the recipe for Paonga Fresca in his publication, The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook. He served this beverage at Tuggs' Grub, his itinerant restaurant based out of a modified transport. He would often bring his eatery to Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo at Black Spire Outpost located on the world of Batuu, where he would garnish the drink with green hemispheres and maroon twists.
The recipe book Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, authored by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel and Marc Sumerak in 2019, marked the debut of Paonga Fresca. The out-of-universe recipe calls for water, limeade, chia seeds, spirulina powder, and matcha tea powder.
