Paldis Doxin, a male Human Imperial scientist and engineer, was affiliated with the Magrody Institute. During 22 BBY, he took part in hypermatter studies at the Ministry of Science. Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin selected him to be a leading scientist at the Maw Installation, where he headed the group that invented the Metal-Crystal Phase Shifter employed in the Battle of the Maw.
Doxin was a highly regarded student of Bevel Lemelisk, and he followed Lemelisk's career moves. Doxin was thrilled to join Lemelisk on the Death Star project and moved to Maw Installation to join his mentor's team. He spent several years helping to build the project by creating the Death Star's laser focusing system. However, when Lemelisk went with Tarkin to work on the real Death Star in the Outer Rim, Doxin was left at the Maw.
During the Battle of the Maw in 11 ABY, he died with the majority of the scientists at the Maw when Tol Sivron mistakenly piloted the Death Star prototype into a black hole.
